Sir Jon Symonds
Jon is Advisory Chair at Manchester Square Partners. Alongside advising the partnership, he acts as a mentor to new and established Chief Executives and Chairs. Jon has extensive international financial, life sciences and governance experience.
Jon was appointed to the Board as Chair of GSK on 1st September 2019. He has also served as Deputy Group Chairman of HSBC from August 2018, until his retirement from the Board in February 2020. He was previously Chairman of HSBC Bank plc, Chief Financial Officer of Novartis AG, Partner and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs, Chief Financial Officer of AstraZeneca plc, and a Partner at KPMG.
Jon’s governance experience includes roles as Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committees of Diageo plc and QinetiQ Group plc, and Non-Executive Chair of Proteus Digital Health Inc.
Jon is a Member of European Round Table for Industry and Senior Advisor to Chatham House. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
